There is no such thing as 'objectivity'. No one stands outside their history, their culture, their identities, their lives and sits on a perch above history objectively noting and remarking.

What there is is 'bias'. All points of view are biased. They are biased FOR what they believe.

The issue for critical thinking is to understand that all points of view are biased, to find the bias and to critically examine it.

Science is not objective. Read Kuhn on paradigm shifts.

No, objectivity is an excuse or a fall back.

There are three questions of import that face us:

1. Questions of fact - is 2 +2 = 4 correct?

2. Questions of preference -- do you like vanilla ice cream or chocolate

3. Questions of reasoned judgment - do you recognize assumptions, critically examine their biases, involve yourself in evidentiary thinking to come to a reasoned judgment?

Sure, facts can be disputed but 2 + 2 =4

The problem is that most people think they have no bias and thus they answer questions in category three with answers from category two,
