They had friends living on Lake Lure who lost everything except the clothes on their backs and 5 hunting dogs. They would've frozen to death in pup tents waiting for FEMA to show up. Only relief was when new administration sent the Army Corps of Engineers in, followed by Amish and other volunteers who didn't ask for any compensation. My cousin (speaking from 2nd floor of her home because 1st was flooded) said "Don't believe anything you're hearing on the news! It's all lies!"
